    Abstract:
The present master’s thesis aims to develop a didactic program proposed for the 2nd level of Compulsory Secondary Education, within the subject of English as a first foreign language. The legislative framework applied corresponds to the Canary Islands Community. The contents have been distributed into eleven units which begin emphasizing the use of English and pronunciation, and evolve its contents until fluent grammar is required in the last unit. English is taught in a practical method, emphasizing comprehension and communication where the language can be applied in the real world and in the society where we live in. The core unit developed corresponds to the 2nd unit in the course, in the syllabus. Education should be focused on exploring the students' competencies and skills. Thus, methodologies such as the Communicative Language along with Merrill’s theory and Bloom’s Taxonomy to achieve a great active learning from the students by doing cooperative work and task-based projects. Moreover, attention to diversity is a key element in the syllabus as they should feel integrated into the class no matter their circumstance. The aim is to favor a pleasant atmosphere in the classroom. Taking this into account, the evaluation carried out throughout the academic year will be fair, integrative, summative and final, being the purpose of the course a great learning of the language and not a number at the end of the academic year.
